Nanna Riis Andersen
Visual artist based in Denmark

Nanna Riis Andersen works with painting and drawing, exploring themes such as transformation, transitional phases, and the body. She uses a visual language that encompasses both the abstract and the figurative. Familiar shapes may seem on the verge of dissolving in the delicate layers of color, or a form may be magnified and removed from its usual context, to appear explicitly and take on a new meaning.

Nanna Riis Andersen (b. 1985) graduated from the Jutland Art Academy in 2012. She has exhibited both solo and in group shows at galleries and exhibition spaces in Denmark and abroad. She participated in the JCE Biennale in 2015 - 2017 in Denmark, Italy, and France. She was awarded the Sven Hols’ Grant in 2020 and the Hielmstierne-Rosencroneske Foundation's work grant in 2024. She lives and works in Ringsted and Copenhagen, Denmark.
